Mark has had several notable accomplishments while practicing law. Though not all cases are measured in money, his recent successes have involved significant judgments on behalf of his clients.
In October 2007, Mark was trial counsel on behalf of a man who was falsely accused of attempting to lure two girls into a car. Mark conducted the discovery of due process violations that established that police officers manufactured false evidence against his client, who was awarded over $2 million by a federal jury.
Mark played a key role in a jury award in October 2006 that resulted in a $9 million federal jury verdict for our client, a Mexican immigrant who spent four years in prison as a teenager after being wrongfully convicted. At trial, the jury concluded that the Waukegan Police Department violated our client's constitutional rights, including the use of a highly suggestive line-up procedure, to frame him for a rape he did not commit.
Mark conducted the discovery and was a trial lawyer for a case that in February 2007 led to a jury verdict for our client who was shot and killed by the Chicago Police following a car chase. There was eyewitness testimony that our client man was unarmed at the time, but four officers testified that he pointed a gun at them. The jury concluded that the gun later recovered in the car was planted after the fact. Following the jury's verdict, the City agreed to pay $5 million.
In January 2006, Mark settled the case of a man who was sent to jail after having skin graft surgery for severe burns. While in jail, he failed to receive the care that was due to him, which caused him considerable pain and suffering. That case settled for $80,000.00.
